Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Consumers

Who can be a Consumer?

A Consumer is a person who is seeking an answer to a legal question from a Lawyer on the lawzy mobile app. To become a Consumer, you must be (1) able to form a legally binding contract; (2) at least 18-years-old; and (3) in full compliance with lawzy’s Terms of Use, User Guidelines, Privacy Policy, and all other policies and third-party service agreements controlling your use and access to the lawzy mobile application.

How do I sign up for the lawzy mobile app?                                                                                                                                          

To sign up as a Consumer, you can download lawzy for free on iTunes or Google Play.

How do I change the email address or phone number associated with my lawzy app account?                                                                            

If you incorrectly entered, or wish to change, the email address or phone number you entered to sign up for your lawzy app account, we will be happy to update this for you.  Please contact our Support Team at support@golawzy.com.

How long will it take for a Lawyer to answer my question?                                                                                                                

Your legal questions are important. We will do our best to get an answer to your question from a Lawyer in our network within forty-eight (48) hours; however, we cannot guarantee that your question will be answered within this time frame, or at all.

When will I be charged for asking a question?                                                                                                                                  

After you submit a question, we will place a temporary hold on your credit card to ensure there are no issues processing your payment. This is not a charge. We will not charge your credit card until you receive an answer to your question from a Lawyer. If a Lawyer does not answer your question, we will notify you and release the temporary hold on your credit card.

Does lawzy offer refunds or credits?                                                                                                                                      

We do not offer refunds or credits for changing your mind, accidental purchases, or any similar reason or event, unless required to do so by law However, if you are dissatisfied for any reason or believe you have extenuating circumstances, we would encourage you to contact our Support Team at support@golawzy.com to discuss your particular situation further. You may also rate the Lawyer who answered your question directly on the app. Please note that we use lawzy’s rating system for internal purposes only; lawyer ratings will not appear on the app.

Why did my payment fail?                                                                                                                                            

Failed payments may occur for a number of reasons.  Please always ensure the following before purchasing services on our app: (1) There are sufficient funds in the account for the credit card being used; and (2) The card details you have entered match the information on the card. Notwithstanding the above, your bank or credit/debit card provider may have denied the transaction without specifying a reason. Please contact your bank if this occurs. We would also recommend contacting the credit or debit card provider to confirm whether there may be are any other issues that are causing this error. You may also attempt to make your purchase again using a different payment method.

Is lawzy a law firm?                                                                                                                                          

No. lawzy is not a law firm. The lawzy app connects you to Lawyers who may answer your legal questions. We may provide a number of methods by which you may ask a Lawyer a question, request or receive general legal information, purchase legal services or have a direct discussion about your legal issues with a Lawyer. Although some of these methods may involve processing a transaction on the app, in all instances, lawzy is simply the intermediary in such transactions.

Will I form an attorney-client relationship with a lawyer who answers my question on lawzy?                                                                          

The establishment of an attorney-client relationship is defined by the law and ethics rules of the state or states where the lawyer is licensed to practice law and is not governed by lawzy.  Some state bar ethics rules provide that a limited scope attorney-client relationship may be created between a Consumer and the Lawyer who answers the Consumer’s legal question; in that situation, the Consumer and the Lawyer expressly consent to and acknowledge that (1) the scope of the Lawyer’s services is limited to only answering the Consumer’s question on the lawzy app; and (2) the Consumer is not represented by the Lawyer who answers their question under the ethics rules governing communications with represented persons.

Who can see my contact information?                                                                                                                              

You control the information you share on lawzy. We will never share your email or phone number with other Consumers or Lawyers using the app.

Other than my question, can a lawyer view my profile information?                                                                                                             

When you ask a question on lawzy, a lawyer may view your full name, location (county and state), language preferences (English or Spanish), profile picture (optional), and the area of law that corresponds with your question. You may access and edit your profile information at any time in your Account Settings.

Can other Consumers view my questions and answers from a lawyer?                                                                                                                        

No. Other Consumers cannot view your profile, your account information, or your communications with Lawyers on the app. Further, Consumers cannot interact with each other on the lawzy app, or search for people they may know on lawzy.

If I select a Lawyer to answer my question, can other Lawyers view my question?                                                                                                   

No. Only the Lawyer you select to answer your question can view your question and their answer to your question. You can review your questions and answers in your Question Feed.

If I do not select a Lawyer to answer my question, who can view my question?                                                                                                           

If you do not select a Lawyer to answer your question, Lawyers who meet your search preferences may view your question until the first available Lawyer answers your question, after which only you and that Lawyer can view your question and answer.

Can Lawyers search for my profile on the app or send me messages?                                                                                                                    

No. A Lawyer may only answer your question. After doing so, the Lawyer cannot search for your profile, send you direct messages or otherwise interact with you on the app. If you wish to continue your conversation with a Lawyer who answered your question, you may provide your contact information to the Lawyer in a follow-up question or contact them outside of the app, at your own risk.

How do I delete my account?                                                                                                                 

At any time, you may delete your account in your Account Settings on the lawzy app, or you may contact our support team at support@golawzy.com. Once you delete your account, you will not be able to reactivate it, or restore or retrieve any of the content or information you previously added to your account. If you delete your account and then wish to return to lawzy at a later date, you must sign up for the app again to create a new account.
